NC Symposium 2010 is almost over.

The final night of Symposium was the Iron Quilter event. It was crazy!!

The audience wore chef hats.

The atmosphere in "kitchen stadium" was electric. The iron quilters were up all kinds of hi jinks....silly string and whipped cream!! The judges turned out to be comedians. It was fun and crazy and let's just say that "What happens at Iron Quilter stays at Iron Quilter"

From all of the Symposium committee members here in Charlotte, we want to say thanks to all of you for coming to our Symposium. We hope you enjoyed yourself and will come back to visit our beautiful city soon.

Happy quilting!
dorm and the Academic Center?

Then perhaps you would like to leave your belongings in the Academic Center before or after class, including overnight, in a secured CHECKROOM located on each workshop floor. Similar to a “coat-check,” you may leave your items and retrieve them at a later time by returning the check ticket provided.

These rooms will be open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Friday and Saturday and from 8:00 am to 9:00 am Sunday. All materials must be picked up from this checkroom before 9:00 am Sunday, June 6.

Someone asked a question about the beds. They are regular twin size.

Happy qilting. see oyu soon!
We don't want our parking lot to look like this .......

So I have a few things that are important for you to know

We have been able to lease a nearby parking deck. The parking deck is the best option for full time boarding students. It’s so close to where you will go in to class. You can leave your class supplies in your car until Friday morning and pick them up on the way to class. The deck has a security card and the lights are motion sensitive – there’s always light, but it goes to bright when you get close, so you’ll feel like a star being followed by a spot light as you walk thru the deck.

The deck costs $1 per 20 minutes, with a max of $10. If you drive in Thursday and don’t leave the deck until Sunday, it’s still only a max of $10 – that’s $2.50 per day. The first 100 cars with full-time boarding students will be given a voucher to park in the deck for free.

The parking lot where registration is, will only fit a few cars (like 30) So when you arrive we will have people there to greet you. You will to drop off all your stuff and we will keep it secure while you go park and then come back and check in.

Click here for more information about parking.

See you in a couple of days.
Happy quilting!
Students were showing their parents around campus, saying goodbye to friends, carrying boxes, students and parents were loading up their cars to head home for the summer – and to make room for us!!

We talked to the team at JWU Residential Life and they were already making plans to get the rooms ready for our event.
Sorry I haven't posted lately. I've gone back to work full time and I'm finding it a challenge to balance everything else in my life! I am in real estate so if you know someone who wants to buy or sell a home, I'd love to help.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif; font-size: large;">Here in Charlotte we are excitedly working to get all the last minute details organized for our Symposium. A few of us are meeting this morning to get the final details "ironed " out for the Saturday night event, which is going to be a lot of fun.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif; font-size: large;">We want all of you to have a wonderful time here in Charlotte and plan to "roll out the red carpet" while you are here.

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif; font-size: large;">Johnson and Wales is in the city. There are lots of restaurants nearby and the center of uptown is just minutes away, an easy and safe walk from the campus. If you've never been to Charlotte before I know you will enjoy it.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif; font-size: large;">Happy quilting and we'll see you soon!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif; font-size: large;">RhondiRhondihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15684060974095411313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4885115522648773003.post-65430570493507177932010-04-22T20:51:00.000-04:002010-04-22T20:51:03.944-04:00Getting CloserHere in Charlotte we are getting very excited about Symposium. It's getting close now and we are all busy working to make sure that your time here with us is a great one.
See you soon.

Happy quilting,
RhondiRhondihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15684060974095411313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4885115522648773003.post-82966579470391635592010-04-05T16:05:00.000-04:002010-04-05T16:05:58.616-04:00Getting CloserSeveral of us toured the facilitites at John and Wales the other day. I wish I'd thought to take pictures....
It is a great place to have symposium.
The food in the dining area smelled good.
It's just a short walk from the dorms to the dining room and classrooms.
There are lots of large "common room" areas with WiFi to hang out in.
Everything is state of the art. You can control your own A/C in your room.
The classrooms are very spacious and very well lit.
Only 2 months from now and we'll be there!
Can't wait! How about you?

Happy quilting, Rhondi Rhondihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15684060974095411313noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4885115522648773003.post-39829525140807382702010-03-20T15:32:00.000-04:002010-03-20T15:32:08.343-04:00ConfirmationsHi
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful first day of spring. Just wanted to let you know we are having some technical difficulties getting the confirmations out.
Here in Charlotte we had our first taste of spring on the weekend and it was wonderful. As I write this I wonder if we are going to get that wintery mix that is forecast for today.

Registrations have been pouring in and a few of the classes are already full. So if you are planning to register I would suggest you do it soon.

The following classes are full:

Kim Diehl Bittersweet Briar

Karen Eickmeier Happy Villages

Ellen Anne Eddy Dragon Fly Sky

Velda Newman both workshops

David Taylor Advanced Pictorial Workshop

I will try to keep you updated weekly on classes as they fill up.

Happy quilting!
Laura was our featured speaker at the Charlotte Guild meeting in February. She is extemely talented and gave a very interesting, funny and informative lecture. She ended it with this original song. Just thought I'd share it with you.
You've heard that before. Maybe you've even said it before. It's that thing you say to avoid getting in trouble when you should have sent something but have put it off for whatever reason.

Well, it really is "in the mail".

The registration packages have been mailed and you can view them online January 26, which is the day we anticipate they will arrive in your mailbox.

Only 6 more days until you can mail them in!

I would love to see your reaction when you see the center page in our registration book. You're going to love it! As I said before, I don't know how you will decide which classes to take because they all look so fabulous.

Happy quilting!

Time to start some new projects. Don't we quilters love to start something new, all those new fabrics to chose from? Forget all those fabrics that we once loved that are sitting in our stash. A new year deserves new fabric, right?

I found a great article in Quilting Daily about Carol Taylor. I'm sure you will enjoy getting to know her a little bit more . She has a video that looks great too!

Carol is such a talented artist. Here are some samples of her work that I found on her website.
Here she is beside one of her award winning quilts.

Karen will teach two classes: Organization of Color and Enticing Ties.

You can find out about all Karen's books here.

So that's the complete list of all the teachers at the 2010 Symposium. It's quite a line up isn't it? How do I ever decide which class to take? It's going to be difficult to decide. All the teachers are so amazing.

Happy quilting,
